Overview

The Student Pastor oversees all discipleship and engagement initiatives for all Middle School and High School Students. This role is essential in creating a vibrant and supportive environment where teenagers can grow spiritually and personally. By implementing innovative programs, the Student Pastor fosters an atmosphere where students feel valued and connected.

Collaboration with parents and guardians is crucial, encouraging open communication and partnership in guiding their teenagers on their faith journey. Through mentorship, engaging activities, and outreach, the Student Pastor strives to cultivate a strong community that reflects The Life Church’s mission: to inspire individuals to live better lives through faith.

With a forward-thinking approach, the Student Pastor leads initiatives that resonate with today's youth, addressing their unique challenges and fostering a sense of belonging. Through discipleship, service opportunities, and relationship-building, we empower our students to deepen their faith and lead impactful lives, thriving together in community.

Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Richmond, Virginia area to fulfill the responsibilities of this role effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Discipleship & Spiritual Growth – Develop and lead engaging discipleship programs that help Middle and High School students grow in their faith and personal development.

• Community & Relationship Building – Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where students feel seen, valued, and encouraged to build strong connections with peers and mentors.

• Youth Engagement & Programming – Plan and execute innovative activities, services, and events that resonate with today’s youth and align with The Life Church’s mission.

• Mentorship & Leadership Development – Invest in students by providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for leadership within the church and their communities.

• Parent & Guardian Partnership – Establish open communication and collaboration with parents and guardians to support students' spiritual and personal growth.

• Outreach & Service Initiatives – Organize outreach programs and service opportunities that allow students to actively live out their faith and impact their communities.

• Volunteer Team Development – Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to effectively serve within student ministry programs.

• Collaboration with Church Leadership – Work closely with pastors, ministry leaders, and staff to ensure student ministry is integrated into the larger church vision.

• Cultural Relevance & Innovation – Stay informed on trends, challenges, and opportunities in youth culture to create meaningful and impactful ministry experiences.

• Event Planning & Execution – Lead retreats, camps, mission trips, and special events that inspire students in their faith journey.

Qualifications:

• Ministry Leadership Experience – 2-4 years of experience in student ministry, youth leadership, or a related field.

• Strong Communication & Teaching Skills – Ability to effectively communicate biblical truths in a relatable and engaging manner.

• Passion for Youth Ministry – A heart for guiding and mentoring Middle and High School students in their faith journey.

• Relationship-Building Expertise – Ability to connect with students, parents, and volunteers to cultivate a strong, supportive community.

• Creativity & Innovation – Skilled in developing fresh, engaging approaches to youth discipleship and programming.

• Team Leadership & Development – Experience recruiting, training, and empowering volunteers to lead within student ministry.

• Event Planning & Organizational Skills – Capable of managing and executing youth events, trips, and gatherings effectively.

• Cultural Awareness & Adaptability – Understanding of youth culture and the ability to create relevant, impactful ministry experiences.
