GREATER

TLC has experienced significant growth and expansion over the last several years. We have launched new campuses, expanded our reach into new cities, invested in the next generation, strengthened our digital ministry, developed new discipleship opportunities, and continued building partnerships within the communities we serve.

But growth also creates responsibility.

The question before us is no longer simply, "How do we accommodate more people on Sunday?" It is, "How do we build the capacity to serve, disciple, develop, and reach more people throughout the week?"

GREATER is our response to that opportunity. We believe this is a moment to intentionally invest in the spaces we need, the discipleship infrastructure that helps people mature in their faith, and the people who will lead and serve the next generation of TLC.

These three areas represent how GREATER will expand TLC's ministry capacity.

SPACE is about creating and stewarding environments where ministry can happen beyond Sunday. That includes the development of our future Richmond home, greater utilization of the facilities we already have, and continuing to pursue long-term ministry space for our campuses. We envision spaces that can serve our church and our communities through worship, sports, education, leadership development, family resources, community partnerships, and more.

DISCIPLESHIP is about helping people move from simply attending church to actively following Jesus. GREATER will allow us to continue developing scalable discipleship pathways, digital resources, Next Gen ministry, leadership development, and opportunities that can reach people across every TLC campus and beyond.

PEOPLE recognizes that buildings and programs do not make ministry happen. People do. GREATER will help us identify, develop, equip, and empower leaders who can carry the mission of TLC into our campuses, neighborhoods, workplaces, families, and future ministry opportunities.

GREATER is ultimately an investment in all three because each one strengthens the others.

There are 168 hours in every week.

For generations, churches have invested significant resources into creating meaningful experiences during the hours we gather for worship. We believe those gatherings matter deeply. But GREATER asks another question: What could God do with the other 167?

We envision church spaces that are alive throughout the week. A student could find community and discipleship after school. A young athlete could have a safe place to practice. A future ministry leader could receive training. A family could access resources and support. Community organizations could collaborate. Children could learn and grow. People could gather, create, serve, and belong.

The 167 is not one program. It is a philosophy for how we steward what God gives us. We don't simply want buildings that are full on Sunday. We want spaces that become centers of hope throughout the week.

The $4 million campaign goal will help fund the priorities represented by Space, Discipleship, and People over the next two years.

A significant portion of the campaign will support the spaces and infrastructure necessary for TLC's next season, including our future Richmond facility and continued development of ministry capacity across our campuses.

But GREATER is intentionally broader than construction. Campaign resources will also help us expand discipleship, invest in Next Gen ministry, develop leaders, strengthen ministry systems, create digital resources, and begin activating parts of the 167 vision before a new facility is complete.

As priorities move from vision into implementation, we are committed to communicating how campaign resources are being deployed and the progress being made.

Imago Dei Neighborhood School is an educational organization that shares our desire to invest deeply in children, families, and communities.

Their role in GREATER is more significant than simply renting space from TLC. Imago Dei is a build partner, and the partnership is one tangible expression of our vision for the other 167 hours of the week.

Our future spaces are being imagined from the beginning with weekday impact in mind. Through this partnership, space that supports TLC's ministry can also become an environment where children are educated, families are served, and lives are impacted throughout the week.

Imago Dei is planned to occupy TLC's North Campus as part of this partnership.

For us, that is the 167 in action: creating spaces intentionally designed to serve people beyond the hours we gather for church.

No.

A new Richmond facility is an important part of GREATER, but the building serves the vision. The building is not the vision.

GREATER is about increasing TLC's capacity for ministry through Space, Discipleship, and People. That includes what happens inside a future facility, but it also includes what happens digitally, at our existing properties, throughout our campuses, through community partnerships, and anywhere TLC has an opportunity to serve and disciple people.

That is also why we don't intend to wait for a new building to begin living out the vision. If something can be piloted today using the spaces, people, and resources already entrusted to us, we want to begin learning and serving now.

GREATER is a TLC-wide vision, not simply a Richmond construction project.

While the needs of each campus are different, our commitment is the same: build sustainable ministry capacity in every city where TLC has been called to serve.

For DMV, that includes continuing to pursue the vision for a permanent home that gives the campus greater stability and increased capacity for ministry beyond Sunday.

For Charlotte, it includes creating greater access to meeting and ministry space as the campus grows and develops.

GREATER will also help us build discipleship resources and digital ministry infrastructure that are not dependent on geography. As TLC grows into multiple cities, our discipleship model must be able to travel with us. People at every campus should have meaningful opportunities to grow, lead, serve, and experience community.

The expression may look different from campus to campus, but GREATER belongs to all of TLC.

Before the new building opens.

One of our commitments throughout this campaign is that GREATER will not simply be a promise about something people may experience years from now.

Over the next two years, we want our church to see tangible progress through ministry pilots, expanded discipleship opportunities, leadership development, community partnerships, digital resources, Next Gen investments, and creative use of the facilities we already have.

For example, TLC already owns spaces with gymnasiums and other resources that can help us begin exploring portions of the 167 vision now rather than waiting for future construction.

The new facility represents an extraordinary increase in what will be possible, but the work of becoming the church we envision can begin today.

GREATER begins with prayer and participation, not simply a financial number.

Over the next two years, we are asking everyone who calls TLC home to prayerfully consider what God is asking them to do in this season.

For some, GREATER may mark the beginning of their generosity journey. For others, it may mean continuing to faithfully tithe while making an additional sacrificial commitment toward the campaign. For others, participation may include generosity alongside serving, leading, praying, inviting, and using their gifts to help bring the vision to life.

We are not asking everyone to give the same amount. We are asking everyone to seek God and respond faithfully.

Our desire is 100% engagement, because GREATER is ultimately not about what a few people can accomplish through extraordinary gifts. It is about what can happen when an entire church chooses to move forward together.

GREATER is about creating the Space, strengthening the Discipleship, and developing the People necessary to serve the people God has called us to reach.
